Watching film not digital

I greatly enjoyed the 53rd Cinecon festival in Hollywood this last weekend. One of the remarkable things about Cinecon is that they still show almost everything from film prints, not DCPs (Digital Cinema Package) or DVDs. What's more, the Egyptian Theater projection has gone through an expensive remodel....it can now project nitrate prints....so Cinecon launched a Saturday night screening where they projected two original Technicolor nitrate prints, a WB cartoon ("Hare Ribbin'," 1944) and a feature ("Untamed," 1940). Really terrific! Several of the silent films presented were brand spanking new preservations/restorations, too!
